Get support to stay on a steady path toward completing your degree. We want you to finish your degree in a reasonable time with acceptable grades. This is known as satisfactory academic progress (SAP).
Perhaps your GPA has slipped or you aren’t making as much progress as you’d like. Reach out to us for help if that’s the case. We provide these resources and more:
The SAP policy outlines resources and understand your rights and responsibilities. We want you to succeed!
Academic Standard (Standards are cumulative and include all periods of enrollment, regardless of financial aid) |
Minimum Requirement | Details |
---|---|---|
GPA |
2.00 |
Cumulative grade point average calculated with grades of A, B, C, D, F, FN and FW. |
Percentage of Course Completion |
2/3 (66.66%) |
Satisfactory grades in all courses you attempt. Grades F, FN, NA, FW, NW, I, N, NC, W, Z and IP (or blank/missing) are unsatisfactory and negatively impact your completion percentage. |
Maximum Timeframe to Complete Degree/Certificate |
150% of the published credit length of the program. |
Applies to financial aid recipients. Program length is according to the college catalog. |
(Standards to meet SAP with detailed explanation).
Every registered student receives a SAP check after each term. We’ll step in to help guide students who don’t meet the standards toward success.
You are responsible to read and understand the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy which describes more details, your rights and responsibilities. Please contact us if you have questions after you have read the full policy.
You’ll be assigned warning status for 1 term if you don’t meet SAP minimum standards. You will need to raise your cumulative GPA and/or completion percentage to meet or exceed the minimum standards.
You’ll be suspended if you are not able to meet SAP minimum standards after your warning term. Your financial aid eligibility is also suspended if you exceed the maximum timeframe.
If you are suspended, you may appeal the suspension and ask for reinstatement based on extenuating circumstances. If your appeal is approved, you will be placed on probation status.
All approved appeals and probationary terms include an academic plan for you to follow including, at minimum, earning a 2.50 term GPA and completing 100% of your courses (or meeting the cumulative standards).
Need help writing your appeal?
At the end of your probationary term:
If you receive an academic suspension, you may return upon successful appeal or after one year.
If you receive a financial aid suspension, you may regain financial aid eligibility with a successful appeal or after returning to good standing by attending without financial aid.
We recommend you use the GPA calculator to estimate your GPA and completion rate during your warning term.
Manage the time you have to complete your degree and receive financial aid.
