Tour/Visit the Disability Office

Special education students and teachers are welcome to visit Normandale Community College, hosted by a staff person from the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD), so that students can experience a college campus and receive valuable information to assist them in the transition from high school to college.

Campus visits for 1 to 1 1/2 hours will include a campus tour and information about the following:

  • Office for Students with Disabilities
  • College Admission
  • Differences between high school and college
  • Careers and Career Programs
  • Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC)

To set up a college visit, please contact Kayla Allen at kayla.allen@normandale.edu or 952-358-9409. To help us best assist you in setting up a college visit we will ask for the following information:

  • Possible dates you are interested in coming to campus
  • The name of your school and/or program
  • The number of students that will be participating in the visit

Optimal environment for successful college visit

  • Bring students (9-12 graders) to the college who are very interested in attending a community, technical or four-year college
  • Bring smaller groups, preferably 10 students or less, to insure everyone's involvement
  • Students should not use electronic devices such as cell phones while on campus
  • Students should come with specific questions about college admission, disability services, or concerns about attending college to increase their engagement in the college visit

At the end of every college visit, each student will receive information about the transition process from high school to college.
