Our Peace Officer/Public Safety program prepares you to seamlessly transfer to a four-year Minnesota State university in just two years.
You’ll study a wide range of law enforcement topics — from communications, to juvenile justice, to sociology. You’ll come away with a foundational understanding of policing and the criminal justice system, and your important role in it.
With a Peace Officer/Public Safety associate’s degree from Normandale, you’ll be transfer-ready to one of seven Minnesota State colleges where you can pursue your bachelor’s degree.
You’ll gain valuable skills in written and interpersonal communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving. Most importantly, you’ll have the skills you need — and the preparation it takes — to pursue policework.
Our program prepares students to be eligible to take the Minnesota Peace Officer Licensing Exam.
Your courses in the Peace Officer/Public Safety transfer pathway will directly transfer to a four-year Minnesota State university and you’ll enter as a junior. You’ll be set to pursue your bachelor’s in law enforcement and be eligible to take the Minnesota Peace Officer Licensing Exam.
Diana Sullivan created this scholarship in memory of her late husband Steve Sullivan. Steve dedicated his life to serving his community and served as the Chief of Police for the cities of Bayport and Orono in Minnesota before retiring in 1995. After his retirement from the police force, Steve pursued his passion of educating the next generation of police officers. He became the coordinator of the Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement programs at Normandale in 1996 and remained in the role until his death in 2021.
Eligibility Criteria:
