Student Employment

Working through college?

Eligible students can apply for Student Employment.

Normandale maintains a list of Student Employment opportunities that are flexible with students’ class schedules. Each job listed will indicate whether or not Work Study is a requirement in order to apply. In order to qualify for Work Study, you must complete the FAFSA or MN Dream Act application and indicate that you are interested in Work Study.

To be eligible for a campus job, you must state that you are interested in Student Employment on your FAFSA documentation every year. Be sure that the results of your FAFSA and all other supporting documents are turned in to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office by April 1st of the preceding academic year.

If you are awarded employment eligibility, you will receive a letter explaining the maximum amount you can earn for the academic year. Student employment funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. A student employment award is not a guarantee of employment.

Work Study, as a part of your financial aid offer, provides the opportunity to work on-campus and limited off-campus opportunities. Work Study is considered a self-help program, which means that you must work in order to receive the funds that are in your financial aid offer. Receiving Work Study in your financial aid offer is not a guarantee of on-campus employment.

You can find a list of available jobs on the Student Employment@ Normandale website. You must create an account and choose the job(s) you wish to apply for online.

You will be emailed by the supervisor if they wish to interview you for the job. If hired, you and the supervisor will work together to complete and submit the required paperwork. Documentation must be complete before actually performing any work at that job.

Once you start working, you are paid for the hours you work every other Friday.  All paychecks are direct deposited to your checking/savings account that you set up in eServices.

If hired, you and the supervisor must complete the required portions of the Student Employment Authorization and any other documentation including for Direct Deposit through your e-services account. Documentation must be completed before performing any work at the job.

You are also required to read the Student Employment Handbook Award Notification Information, which is also available on the Student Employment at Normandale website. Click "Students" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Normandale's Student Employment Handbook" on the right.

You will receive a timesheet from the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office. Any hours worked before receiving your timesheet will be considered volunteer hours.

Normandale Career Planning includes resources for finding and applying to available off-campus jobs. Potential employers who would like to post an off-campus listing should also visit this site.

To view and apply for student jobs online via the website, visit Student Employment at Normandale. You will be contacted by the supervisor via email when they have received your online job application and are ready to set up an interview.
