First Time Students

If you're new to college life, navigating the enrollment process can seem a bit intimidating. Normandale makes it easy to submit your application online and open the next chapter of your education.

It only takes a few minutes – and there's no application fee. Let's go!

We are currently accepting applications for Summer and Fall 2024.
Deadline: Summer 2024 - Apply by July 1, 2024
Deadline: Fall 2024 - Apply by August 14, 2024

Be sure to get your application submitted before the deadline for the term you wish to start. And remember – the earlier you apply, the more time you’ll have to sort out financial aid and plan your courses.

If you have taken PSEO or Concurrent Enrollment coursework through Normandale in the last two years, you do not have to re-apply to take courses as an undergraduate student. Instead, fill out the PSEO to General Student Status Request eForm here.

The Application Process

You'll apply to Normandale as a "general student." This is the official designation for those who have no previous college experience.

If you plan to complete your Associate's degree, or transfer to another college to get a Bachelor's degree, you're a "general student."

Step 1: Apply Online

To get started, you create a "StarID.” This will be your username throughout your college career.

Once you're logged in, the application form will guide you through the easy questions and submission process.

Step 2: Send Your Transcripts

Ask your high school guidance counselor to send your official transcript to Normandale or you can submit transcripts using the document submitter.

Step 3: Send Your Test Scores (Optional)

Tests such as ACT, SAT or MCA are not required for admission. But these scores may help to determine your course placements for reading, writing and math classes. You can submit test scores using the document submitter.

And...that's all you need to apply!

Your Acceptance Letter

After we've received your application, you'll receive your acceptance letter via email from the Normandale Office of Admissions. Be sure to check the personal email account you provided on the application frequently.

Information you provided on your application determines your course placements. If additional information is needed, you will receive email instructions on next steps.

Once your course placements are complete, you will be invited to the New Student Orientation. Part of the orientation process will include meeting with an advisor and registering for courses.

And...that's it — you're an admitted student now!
