The Summer High School Enrollment Program (SHEP) at Normandale lets you earn college credit during the summer.
High school students entering the 10th, 11th and 12th grades can earn credits when Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) and concurrent enrollment funding is not available.
Summer college classes for high school students are accelerated: you’ll cover 15 weeks of curriculum in five to seven weeks during the summer. Students spend much more time in class each day, and you will need to plan for study time.
Tuition, fees, and books for summer session courses are the student's responsibility. The Minnesota Department of Education does not fund these courses. Financial aid is not available. Some summer session classes may begin before your high school's term has ended. Students are expected to attend classes at the college.

Only students new to Normandale Community College need to apply for our summer college classes for high school students. Current Normandale Community College PSEO students who want to take summer classes can proceed with registration and do not need to apply in advance.
The program is available to high school students entering 10th - 12th grades in the fall. If you have already graduated high school, apply for undergraduate admission instead.
You must meet required pre-requisite courses or placement levels prior to registration. Reading, English, math, and certain other courses may require course placements.
Applicants are accepted to the summer program only. They are not admitted into the PSEO program, nor as general undergraduate students. For fall and spring terms before graduating high school, apply to the PSEO program.
Students who have graduated from high school and want to continue as degree-seeking students will need to apply for undergraduate admission. Otherwise, students may take courses as a visiting student without re-applying.
